Jacqui and I had to be back fairly early we both had chauffeuring duties that afternoon, mine very early in the afternoon. We had Jacqui, with us our first responsible adult for some time, joining us were both, Daves, Alan B, Ed and Steve. As the title indicates Overton Station was the chosen destination, it was a change to see that most of the water had gone from the fields with just a few hard-core pools persisting here and there (can water ever be described as hardcore?)
It was a still warm day warming further as the day moved on. There were no signs of the seals; either at Stanground Lock or at the Rowing Lake, have they moved on? There is building work underway at the Rowing Lake, someone suggested it might be a café or restaurant, but time will tell.
Although there was no sign of cygnets anywhere so far there was a duck with her brood of nine ducklings in the rowing lake, as Jacqui said, it always lifts the spirits to see new life. Before too long we fetched up at a rather busy Overton Station, the warm weather seemed to have brought people out for walks. Everywhere the foliage seemed denser and more luxuriant than in previous years, possibly a benefit of all the rain we have had over the last six months. A Welsh Railways railcar arrived at the station packed with young school children, while we were there, hence no photos of it. As I forgot to order sausage rolls, they had all gone by the time I reached the counter but the pasty was very tasty. Jacqui and I left early to be back in time for our afternoon shifts taking Fiona’s route back to Stanground Lock. It was a faster ride back than usual I had to pick up a passenger at 1.20, and Jacqui’s trip was slightly later.
A great ride out with excellent company as always and with a hint of summer weather to lift the spirits.
Here are a few interesting thoughts from: Onelinefun.com:
The plumber told me a hole boring story about pipes.
Where do bad gymnasts go? Behind parallel bars!
When do monkeys fall from the sky? During Ape-ril showers!
Math puns are the first sine of madness!
While most puns make me feel numb, mathematic puns make me feel number.
More nonsense next week, all being well, take care, everyone.
