Chimes in May

Chimes in May

15th May 2024

Five of us gathered together at the Buttercross for our Wednesday’s excursion, Alan B, Ed, Dave, Jacqueline and me. Chimes, was our chosen destination on a still, warm, fine day, although rain was promised for later. (Did you think Damply might need his aqua bike later on then?) the possibility had to be explored.

It was quite a quick ride to Chimes the stillness helped, Stanground Lock was quiet both in terms of wildlife and boating activity. We made our way through Stanground edged our way into Fletton High Street, turned off then bowled along beside Fletton Lakes. Again the occasional glimpse through the now dense undergrowth revealed quietness on the lake. And so it remained as we made our way along London Road before turning off into Hampton Avenue near the hamlet of fast food outlets at its junction with London Road. Unusually for us we had our teas inside rather than al fresco. The ride back was leisurely and it wasn’t too long before Whittlesey beckoned with darkening skies.

A great ride out with excellent company as always

Here are a few interesting thoughts from: Readers Digest:

What happens to an illegally parked frog? It gets toad away.

How does the man in the moon get his hair cut? Eclipse it.

Did you hear they arrested the devil? Yeah, they got him on possession.

What did one DNA say to the other DNA? “Do these genes make me look fat?”

More nonsense next week, all being well, take care, everyone.
