1st May 2024

I don’t think it had registered with any of us that it was Mayday when we turned up at the Buttercross on Wednesday. Perhaps it was the lack of Morris Men or any hint of St George’s Cross regalia as we readied ourselves for a morning of adventure that gave no clue to the day. However, it was a warm, still, dry day and although May had only just started and was not out I felt safe enough to leave my heavy coat on its peg for the first time in a long while.
The assembled multitude consisted of Dave, Alan, Ed, Jeff, Mark, Steve and myself. We set off down the B1040 and once we were clear of the Dog in a Doublet Bridge the traffic was lighter, lighter still when we turned into Thorney Dyke, (the road not the watercourse, none of us were equipped with the Aqua cycle promoted by Damply Sproggins, (stop digressing). There were a fair number of swans in evidence but as yet no grey bundle of grey feathers heralding a new batch of cygnets. The lack of wind and a comfortable temperature made for a really pleasant ride, we soon rattled along Old Knarr Fen Drove and after Wisbech Road and the A47 roundabout we were moving easily along New Cut. (Who was Damply Sproggins?) He was a pioneering Aqua Cyclist. After New Cut, it was into English Drove and into the Golf Club. (Is that it then about Damply Sproggins?) I’ll tell you later I’m really late with the ride report and I want to get it finished. The sausage bap was up to Thorney Golf Club’s usual high standard meeting Brian was while we were there was unexpected. I immediately spotted he hadn’t got his bike with him. However, I couldn’t linger too long I had an appointment later in the afternoon and wanted to be back in good time. With that in mind, I took the more direct route home along the B1040 as did Jeff and Alan, while the others took a longer way home. A great ride out with excellent company as always.
Here are a few interesting thoughts from: Onelinefun.com:
What do you call a dead Magician? A ABRACADAVA.
Why do people wear shamrocks on St. Patrick's Day? Regular rocks are too heavy.
NASA is sending traditionalist Christians to the red planet... Amish on to Mars.
"Hey Dad, have you seen my sunglasses?" "No son, have you seen my glasses?"
I hate it when people don't know the difference between your and you're. There so stupid.
More nonsense next week, all being well, take care, everyone.
